Meet Miss Dickens!
I am so excited to begin our school year together, and meet all of the second grade families! Believe it or not, this is my FOURTH year at QAE. It is such an honor to be part of the QAE community and call this place my home! Here is a little bit about me:
I began my career in teaching when I was six years old ;) With a mom as a teacher, I developed a passion for teaching at a young age, and couldn't wait to have a classroom of my own! I spent my earlier years tutoring, coaching, and helping out in classrooms as much as possible. I began my college career at Central Washington University in Ellensburg and graduated in 2009 with a degree in Spanish Teaching, Elementary Education, and Teaching English to Second Language Learners. I was so lucky to begin my teaching career at the Wahluke School District in Mattawa, Washington. I started out teaching bilingual second grade, and then spent two amazing years teaching first grade.
After visiting QAE for a day in 2013, I was amazed! I knew that I wanted to be part of this community, and couldn't imagine myself anywhere else. I am so thrilled that my dear friend, Miss Klope (now known as Mrs. Palumbo), introduced me to this wonderful place!
When I am not at school, you can find me playing volleyball, traveling, listening to music, eating chocolate, shopping, going to concerts or spending quality time with friends and family!
I look forward to getting to know all of the second graders and building a classroom community of our own :)
